Dual-Video Spectral Comparator Regula Regula 4308
Product description
Precision in every detail
Regula 4308 is a comprehensive solution for in-depth examinations in forensic laboratories and at border checkpoints. With advanced optics and illumination systems, it helps experts authenticate ID documents, detect sophisticated banknote counterfeits, verify handwriting in official documents, examine collectibles, and reveal alterations in works of art.
Upper and lower optical systems with high-resolution 14MP and 12MP cameras. The two optical systems allow for viewing both the front and back sides of a document without having to turn it over. The movable upper optical system enables the examination of thick objects, such as books or works of art.
The device is equipped with a high-resolution spectrometer, a hyperspectral imaging module, a 3D imaging module, a light source for anti-Stokes luminescence, a motorized XY translation stage, and modules for reading MRZ, RFID chips, invisible images (IPI), and 1D and 2D barcodes.
Spectral Comparator with the best optics on the market
Optical magnification is up to 320x. The device features 30 types of light sources and over 20 filters on the camera.
The XY translation stage enables highly precise positioning with a step width of 0.01 mm along multiple axes and image stitching. Stitching mode helps capture the entire A4-sized image with a single click.
A unique motorized oblique lighting system, which allows the angle of incidence of the light source to be adjusted, offers extensive capabilities for examining a document’s micro-relief in the visible and infrared spectrum.
Regula Forensic Studio software enhances document analysis efficiency by providing full control over all comparator functions, while integration with the Regula IRS reference database—containing images of thousands of documents and descriptions of all their security features—enables real-time comparison of the examined object with a reference image.

Important Features
A unique motorized oblique illumination system facilitates relief imaging in the visible and infrared spectrums, with the ability to save settings and reproduce precise imaging results.
Two optical systems
Equipped with top and bottom cameras with resolutions of 14 and 12 MP respectively, the comparator can easily change the sides of observation and increase the field of view. This streamlines the examination process, enabling analysis of fragile or damaged items without turning them over
Embedded high-resolution spectrometer
Since a spectrometer is an integral part of the device, it enables spectral analysis of ink characteristics in documents and handwritten texts without additional equipment.
Relief examination - Motorized oblique lights
The special motorized system of oblique lighting enables more detailed relief examinations by exploring raised and recessed areas on a surface in the visible and IR spectrum ranges, with the possibility to save settings and repeat accurate examination results.
Examination of large and thick objects
A unique system for raising the upper optical path can expand the field of view to 310×220 mm when scanning large documents and objects, while also allowing the examination of thick objects with light under a same angle of light as if the flat objects.
Motorized movable object stage
The XY translation stage (110×70 mm) allows for high-performance positioning and micro displacements with a 0.01 mm pace of examined objects in automated mode. This streamlines examination at high magnification while eliminating the need to touch objects, including fragile items.
3D visualization
Possibility to build a 3D-model of a document fragment to examine surface relief, identify the sequence of strokes at their intersections, like signatures, handwritten text and laser printer toner.
